Kuwait Deaf Futsal Team To Quarterfinals Of Brazil's World Cup


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MADRID, Nov 14 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti deaf futsal team qualified for the quarterfinals in the World Futsal Cup in Brazil.
The team came first in the third group with seven points, with goal difference against Switzerland who came in second, an unprecedented achievement for Kuwait Deaf Sports Club, coach Salem Aman told KUNA on Tuesday.
The team defeated Denmark 5-2, won against the UK with the same result and had a 2-2 draw with Switzerland, he said.
Kuwait will face Thailand in the next stage on Wednesday, and should the team win, it will face the winner from Iran vs Czech Republic match in the semi-finals, Aman added.
The tournament kicked off in Sao Paulo last Friday and will conclude on 19 November, with the participation of 14 national teams.
The Kuwaiti team had prepared for the tournament in a training camp in Granada, Spain, scoring a 2-2 draw with the Spanish team, the titleholder, and losing 3-2 in a second match. (end)
