Officials Inspect Rehabilitation Projects At Baiji Refinery

A government delegation, led by the Prime Minister's energy Advisor, Mr. Faiad Hassan Naima, and the Deputy Minister of Oil for Refining Affairs, Mr. Hameed Younis, visited the Baiji Northern refinery on Thursday, October 19, 2023. The purpose of this visit was to assess the progress of the rehabilitation and reconstruction project at the refinery.

The delegation received a briefing on the project's stages and achievement rates from Mr. Adnan Mohammed Hamoud, the Director-General of the Baiji Northern Refinery, along with the technical and engineering team responsible for the reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts.

This visit is in line with the directives of Prime Minister Mr. Mohammed Shiaa Al-Sudani and Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs Mr. Hayan Abdul Ghani to expedite the implementation of the rehabilitation and reconstruction projects at Baiji's Resilience Refineries, adhering to the planned schedules and aiming to achieve previous production levels.

National efforts have successfully rehabilitated and upgraded Salahaddin Refineries 1 and 2, each with a capacity of 70,000 barrels per day. Work continues around the clock to rebuild and rehabilitate the Baiji Northern Refinery with a capacity of 150,000 barrels per day.
