(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 20. Within the
framework of the High-Level Week of the 78th session of the UN
General Assembly, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of
Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov has met with Secretary General of the
Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha,
Trend reports.
At the meeting, the current agenda of cooperation between
Azerbaijan and the OIC, issues of preparation for the
organization's summit, which will be held at the end of this year
in Gambia, as well as the current situation in the region were
discussed.
Bayramov noted with satisfaction the close cooperation of
Azerbaijan with the OIC since the country's entry into the
organization and recalled with gratitude that the OIC has always
taken a fair position regarding the territorial integrity and
sovereignty of Azerbaijan.
He noted that during the period of Azerbaijan's chairmanship in
the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), practical measures were taken to
develop ties between the NAM and the OIC.
The minister also provided detailed information on the current
situation in the region and the process of normalization of
relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
