ROME, Aug 24 (KUNA) -- Rome, the capital of Italy is famfor its historic and unique puplic squares, representing its rich culture and history. Since its establishment by the Romans 2,500 years ago, the squares were a point for political and social gatherings throughout the ages.
The most famis the Piazza Venezia, consisting of five main streets that connect the city's main monuments. From the north comes Via del Corso street, where the government presidency headquarters is located, from the east is Via 4 Novembre, leading to the presidential palace, to the west is Via del Plebescito, leading to St. Peter's Square and the Vatican.
From the south is Via dei Fori Imperiali, leading to the Colosseum, while Teatro Marcello street leading to Piazza del Campidoglio, the city's government headquarters.
