Customs Authorities Thwart Smuggling At Hamad Airport

Doha, Qatar: The Customs Department at Hamad International Airport thwarted an attempt to smuggle narcotics into the country.

In a statement, Customs stated that the narcotic substance was found inside a belt. The substance was discovered upon the suspicion of authorities that a foreign object was strapped around the traveler's body.

Customs further stated: "After the detection, it turned out to be cannabis, and its total weight was 1.9 kg."

A few days ago, the Postal Consignment Department of Air Cargo and Private Customs also foiled a shipment of saturated (dried) clothes containing the narcotic substance, methamphetamine.

The Customs Department has been warning against bringing illegal goods into the country. They are equipped with all means of support including the latest devices and continuous training to read the body language of passengers and to be aware of the latest methods followed by smugglers.
