Lawyers for Trump challenge protective order requested by prosecutors
(MENAFN) Attorneys for previous United States Leader Donald Trump have defied a defensive order demanded by prosecutors on his election meddling case, claiming that only “genuinely sensitive” matters should be reserved from the public eye.
Trump’s legal party replied to the projected command in a court filing on Monday, stating that any effort to ban the defense from openly debating matters gotten from the administration, together with “exculpatory documents,” would breach Trump’s legitimate rights.
“In a trial about First Amendment rights, the government seeks to restrict First Amendment rights,” the lawyers stated. “Worse, it does so against its administration’s primary political opponent, during an election season in which the administration, prominent party members, and media allies have campaigned on the indictment and proliferated its false allegations.”
The filing continued to blame special counsel, Jack Smith, who is heading the election meddling case against Trump, of looking to utilize the court as a “censor” to execute “content-based regulations” on the previous commander in chief, instead asking for a “more measured approach.”
