Qatar's Pavilion At Jordan's Jerash Festival Of Culture And Arts Sees High Turnout

Amman: The pavilion of the Ministry of Culture at the 37th edition of Jordan's Jerash Festival of Culture and Arts is receiving a high turnout from a wide spectrum of Jordanian public and visitors from different nationalities to get familiarized with the various aspects of the Qatari authentic culture and heritage. The event will run until today in Jerash city, Jordan.
In a statement yesterday, head of the delegation of the Ministry of Culture participating in the festival Abdulaziz Ahmed Al Mutawa said the ministry is keen to introduce all rich heritage of the State of Qatar to the entire world through participation in external events and festivals, adding that the Ministry of Culture chose to represent two traditional crafts, namely Bashout knitting and building traditional ship, in addition to showcasing small models of traditional ships in Qatar, along with some diving equipment.
Some Qatar folk cloths and types of Bisht, including male and female traditional attires have been showcased in the festival, Al Mutawa said, adding that the State of Qatar proposed to register Bisht as an Arabic joint file in the Unesco's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. He outlined that Bisht is illustrious, however, after the Argentinian Football player Lionel Messi wore it in the closing ceremony of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament, it had a profound impact on introducing Arabic heritage to the entire world.
