WFP states Russia has not granted free food for organization

(MENAFN) According to the UN World Food Program (WFP), Russia has not granted the organization any free food since Moscow's pullout from the Black Sea grain agreement, enabling Ukraine to export tens of millions of tons of grains during the last year.

“We have not been approached,” WFP Deputy Executive Director Carl Skau informed journalists at the UN H.Q. in NY.

Earlier on Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that his country will provide free grain to six African countries in the next three to four months.

Russian Leader Vladimir Putin stated earlier on Thursday that his nation will be supplying free grain to 6 African nations during the next three to four months.

Under the grain contract, the WFP has sent over 725,000 tons of grain to alleviate hunger in a number of the world's most destitute places, like Afghanistan, the Horn of Africa, as well as Yemen.

“This is really about keeping the barn door open just when millions are knocking on it. The world needs unimpeded access to major food supplies. The hungry cannot wait for deliberations or diplomatic detours,” he continued.
