Indonesia blocks access to Elon Musk`s rebranded website

(MENAFN) Indonesia has jammed admittance to the website X.com, selected by Elon Musk for his reinvented social media podium previously labeled as Twitter. The Muslim-majority nation`s Ministry of Communication as well as Information Technology (Kominfo) stated that the domain has been linked with illegal material.

“X.com was previously used to host other sites that were not complying with our laws and were included in the Kominfo blocklist,” the ministry’s representative, Usman Kansong, informed journalists on Tuesday. He did not clarify why precisely the domain name was banned.

However, in line with a news agency, the website was banned according to the administration’s restriction on “negative content,” for example pornography as well as gambling.

Kansong stated that the bureau was in touch with Musk’s firm throughout the matter. “Earlier today, we spoke with representatives from Twitter and they will send a letter to us to say that X.com will be used by Twitter,” he clarified.
