Finland’s Deputy PM issues apologies for past bigot remarks

(MENAFN) Finland’s far-right Deputy Premier Riikka Purra has published an apology for “stupid social media comments” she wrote 15 years ago that included a gush of racist as well as violent declarations targeting immigrants and other subgroups.

Purra, who heads the nationalist, anti-immigration Finns Party, which came second in the three months ago elections in the Nordic nation, was between the associates of her party who assured main cabinet spots in the recent traditional administration driven by Premier Petter Orpo.

Purra, who works as Finland’s Finance Minister in and is also its deputy president, stated in tweets on Twitter that she is “not a perfect person” and that she has “made mistakes,” after the insensitive blog posts she’d authored were exhumed by Finnish press.

“If they gave me a gun, there’d be bodies on a commuter train,” Purra wrote in one post in September 25, fifteen years ago, obviously in protestation to people of an immigrant circumstances she saw while on a train.
