(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Heavy fighting is ongoing in the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions, 27 combat engagements were recorded in the past day. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said this in its evening update posted on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
As noted, the Russian invaders are focusing their main efforts on the mentioned directions.
In total, in the past day, the enemy launched 27 air strikes and 37 MLRS attacks on the positions of the Defense Forces of Ukraine and populated areas, killing and injuring civilians and causing damage to residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure.

The aircraft of the Defense Forces, in turn, launched one strike targeting an enemy manpower cluster. The General Staff warned that the probability of further enemy missile attacks and air strikes on the entire territory of Ukraine remains high.
In the Lyman direction, the Russian forces conducted assault operations and tried to dislodge the Defense Forces from their positions in the area west of Spirne, Donetsk region, but they had no success. The enemy used aircraft to attack the districts of Novosadove, Ivanivka, Serebrianka Forestry and Spirne of Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements came under Russian artillery fire, including Nevske and Bilohorivka in Luhansk region, Torske, Spirne, Berestove and Vesele in Donetsk region.
In the Bakhmut direction, under heavy fire from the enemy's aircraft and artillery, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled attacks in the area of Dubovo-Vasylivka of Donetsk region. The Russians launched air strikes on the areas of Oleksandro-Shultyne and Pivnichne. More than 10 settlements were subjected to enemy artillery shelling in the indicated direction, including Markove, Bohdanivka, Khromove, and Ivanivske of Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka direction, the Defense Forces continue to hold back the advance of Russian troops in the area of Avdiivka. More than 10 settlements came under enemy artillery fire, including Novokalynove, Lastochkyne, Avdiivka, Sieverne, Pervomaiske and Nevelske of Donetsk region.
In the Marinka direction, under the fire of Russian artillery, Ukrainian defenders repelled all attacks in the area of Marinka. The enemy launched air strikes on the district of Krasnohorivka, as well as shelled more than 10 settlements, including Krasnohorivka, Marinka, Heorhiivka, Maksymilianivka, Yelyzavetivka, and Katerynivka in Donetsk region.
As reported by Ukrinform, from July 3 to 9, the Defense Forces of Ukraine eliminated 4,380 Russian soldiers, 178 artillery systems and 1 helicopter of the invaders.
