Discovery algorithms in Instagram helps find ‘pedophiles content’

(MENAFN) Traders of juvenile-sex content have started a flourishing network thanks to the finding algorithms in social media platform, Instagram, the photo-sharing podium acquired by the Silicon Valley giant Meta, the Wall Street Journal stated on Wednesday.

“Instagram connects pedophiles and guides them to content sellers via recommendation systems that excel at linking those who share niche interests,” the Journal stated, according to probes it conducted mutually with Stanford University as well as the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Sexualized profiles on the podium are “brazen” over their likes, but don’t upload illegal content openly, preferring to provide “menus” of content instead, based on the researchers.

They also utilize specific emojis as code, in which a map stands for “minor-attracted person” – a euphemism for pedophile – and cheese pizza is shorthand for “child pornography,” stated Brian Levine, director of the UMass Rescue Lab at Amherst.
