Iranian Parliamentary Delegation Visits Site of Border Attack, Honors Brave Border Guards

(MENAFN) A delegation from Iran's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee recently conducted a visit to the site of a tragic armed attack that occurred along the border with Pakistan. Led by Shahriar Heidari, a member of the committee, the visit took place on Thursday. The attack, which took place in Saravan County of Sistan-Baluchistan province, resulted in the unfortunate loss of five Iranian border guards earlier this month.

According to reports, the border guards stationed in the Saravan County border regiment engaged in a clash with a group of armed assailants attempting to cross the border near the Mazesar border post. The Iranian police stated that the terrorists fled the scene after suffering significant casualties, while the border guards valiantly defended their position for approximately one hour. Among the five casualties, two were officers and the remaining three were conscripts.

The location of the attack, Saravan County, is situated a mere 40 kilometers away from the border with Pakistan. In response to the incident, the deputy commander of the Iranian police and the commander of the Iranian border guards had previously visited the clash site to assess the situation.

During the visit, Shahriar Heidari, a member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, praised the resilience and bravery of the Iranian border guards. He highlighted their unwavering dedication to the defense of their country's soil, emphasizing that the border guards chose martyrdom over surrender when confronted by the terrorists. Heidari's remarks, as reported by the parliamentary news agency ICANA, showcased the sacrifice, commitment, and courage demonstrated by the border guards in the face of adversity.
