Doha: The Cultural Village Foundation, Katara is participating, as a guest of honour with Iraq in the 37th Tunis International Book Fair.
The 37th edition of the Tunis International Book Fair is being held at the Kram Exhibition Centre from April 28 to May 7, under the theme 'Fly by Books' Wings'.
Katara's delegation is headed by Katara General Manager Prof. Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti. Katara Publishing House participates in a pavilion with latest publications of the house in Arabic, English and French.
Signing ceremonies for novels by Tunisian authors who won the successive sessions of the Katara Prize for Arabic Fiction will be held in the Katara Publishing House booth. They include Al Azhar Ibn Al Arabi, author of the novel Al Natur; Walid bin Ahmed, author of Al Qardash; Munira Al Raawi, author of Rosalia, The Lioness of the Mountain, and Reda bin Farah Jawadi, author of The Fine Architecture in the Arab Novelist Achievement.
The house will also participate in a symposium on the experience of the Katara Prize for Arabic Fiction, in which Khalid Abdul Rahim Al Sayed, Director of the Cultural Affairs and Events Department at Katara, will speak.
President of the Republic of Tunisia H E Kais Saied inaugurated the exhibition. As many as 276 exhibitors are participating in the exhibition, including 124 from Arab countries, 128 Tunisian exhibitors, in addition to 24 foreign exhibitors, as well as three pavilions for non-governmental organisations. These exhibitors offer visitors nearly 500,000 books issued after 2018.
The opening day of the exhibition included the announcement of the winners of the prizes for literary and intellectual creativity in an official ceremony hosted by the Tunisian Academy of Sciences, Literature and Arts“House of Wisdom” in Carthage.
