The Indonesian Embassy in Qatar, in collaboration with several Indonesian community groups such as Indonesian Community in Dukhan (PKD), Indonesian Community in Al Khor, Minang Community Association (IKM) and Indonesian Community Association at QAPCO (INDOQAPCO), held a series of family gatherings during Eid Al Fitr.

The gatherings were organised in Dukhan, Wakra and Al Khor during Eid holidays.“I would like to extend my highest appreciation to the Indonesian community living in Qatar.

They have done a lot in maintaining and promoting good relations between Indonesia and Qatar, particularly at the level of people-to-people contact,” said Ambassador of Indonesia to Qatar, HE Ridwan Hassan.

The Indonesian community has long established its presence in the country for over three decades, and currently, there are around 20,000 Indonesians living in Qatar.

The community is very active in participating in various events in Qatar, one notable example is during the World Cup Qatar 2022 where they were among the performers and volunteers in several fan zones around the country.

“It once again proved that Indonesian community has become a good ambassador to represent our country in Qatar,” said Ambassador Hassan.

This year, the roles of Indonesian community is even more significant as 2023 is the Qatar-Indonesia Year of Culture. Many activities have been scheduled to celebrate it.

“During Ramadan for example, we had exchange culinary programme in which a chef from Qatar was in Jakarta to promote Qatari dishes. At the same time Indonesian corner was also opened in Ramadan Tent of W Hotel. In the coming months, Indonesia and Qatar also will have several cultural promotion programme.

We believe this cultural year will put Indonesia and Qatar relations on another level,” said Ali Murtado, person in charge of cultural activities at the Indonesian Embassy.
