Germany Halts Evacuation Mission From Sudan Due To Continued Fighting

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BERLIN, April 19 (KUNA) -- German military halted its mission of evacuating 150 citizens from Sudan on Wednesday, citing continued fighting in capital Khartoum, according to German media reports.
Der Spiegel magazine quoted army sources as saying that A400M airplane, which stopped to refuel in Greece, aborted its evacuation mission and will return to Germany later today.
Germany's Crisis Response Centre at the Foreign Ministry, since the eruption of armed clashes between Sudanese army and paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces on April 15, has been working on evacuating its citizens from Sudanese lands.
Dozens have been killed and injured in these violent clashes after talks aimed at forming a new government failed. (end)
