Algeria Ex-Minister Of Health Sentenced To 7 Yrs In Jail


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ALGIERS, April 4 (KUNA) -- Algerian former health minister Abdelmalek Boudiaf was sentenced on Tuesday to seven-year imprisonment over fraud charges.
The economic and financial division of Sidi Mhamed criminal court in Algiers found Boudiaf and 18 other defendants, including three members of his family, guilty of the charge of illicit enrichment.
Beside the prison term, the former minister was ordered to pay a fine of USD 30,000.
The court gave son and daughter four-year and 18-month suspended prison sentences, respectively while his wife was acquitted.
The charges date back to Boudiaf's tenure as minister of health between September 2013 and May 2017. (end)
