The Old City, which has been chosen as one of the best tourist villages in the world for 2022, will be the subject of a study and restoration project under the direction of a team of experts, the Royal Commission for AlUla has announced. This project aims to reveal the town's details and architecture.
Murals with geometric ornaments and other motifs depicting many aspects of daily life, such as mosques, homes, markets, and many material items that indicate the cultural significance embedded in these images and drawings, were found during studies.
The houses in the old town have several inscriptions and motifs engraved on them, as well as diverse colors with different meanings. The AlUla Royal Commission undertook this study with a focus on the components and specifics of local folklore.
The findings of these research demonstrate that the homes, including those of the AlUla Cultural Oasis created by the inhabitants, were distinguished by elaborate inscriptions and are now within the range of perfection, making the ancient town one of the best tourist villages in the entire globe.
