Doha: The increasing number of tourist arrivals to Qatar after the World Cup shows the keen interest among travellers to explore the beauty and cultural authenticity of the country.

Visitors from across the world were seen last week at all main iconic locations in Doha. Hotels, restaurants and malls at Souq Waqif, Msheireb, Corniche and The Pearl were welcoming guests to savour some of the Arabian cuisine and the country's culinary specialities in a serene ambience.

The architectural marvels and the breath-taking landscapes astonish visitors to the rich Middle Eastern state which is now on the world map for travel and tourism. Evonne Dekker and her sister Bernie Hills from Wales looked relaxed and refreshed at the Msheireb metro station.

During a brief conversation the two sisters said they were having a great time in an amazing country.“This is our first but not the last visit to Qatar,” one of the sisters said looking eager and determined to return to the country at her next vacation. Qatar's fame as a destination for travel did not start with the soccer games but long before as a place for trade and commerce. Visitors thronged the Souq Waqif, a bustling market place in Doha to take back home something that would keep memories of the tour alive. Souq Waqif is known for traditional garments, spices, handicrafts, souvenirs and home for world renowned restaurants and shisha lounges.

The World Cup has brought immense growth opportunities to the tourism and hospitality sector of Qatar. We have seen greater interest from travellers to explore the country more especially after the participation in the World Cup. There have also been an increase in cruise ship arrivals compared to the last season when COVID-19 restrictions were in place Doha Bus General Manager Tareq Amora told The Peninsula yesterday.

The new destinations and activities in Qatar will be a factor in developing our tours since this will be added attractions for visitors. In line with that, we have plans to add more vehicles to our fleet to offer a better service to visitors and boost the tourism sector.

Doha Bus is a leading destination management company in Qatar, catering to the tourism, hospitality and sight-seeing markets.

Established in 2013, the privately-owned company that initially started off as a hop on hop off tour provider, has expanded and diversified into other related markets and has in turn rapidly grown in the tourism and hospitality industry.

It has now acquired an Al Majles Resort at Sealine. Its ever-expanding fleet now consists of sedans, mini vans, shuttle buses, mini coaches, luxury touring coach, double deckers, monster off-road desert safari buses, cruisers and accessible vehicles for wheel chairs. Tareq said that the company's Al Majlis Resort in Sealine hosted over five thousand guests during the World Cup, where they spent a wonderful day on the beach, tried camel riding, watched the Arabian oryx and tasted Arabic food in addition to many cultural and folklore events.
