Minister Of Commerce And Industry Meets With Ministers And Senior Officials

Doha: Minister of Commerce and industry His Excellency sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Thani meets with Ministers and Senior Officials on the sidelines of the 5th UN conference on Least Developed Countries, which took place in Doha during 5-9 March 2023.

Minister of Commerce and Industry met, separately, with Minister of Economy and Planning in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia H E Faisal Alibrahim, Minister of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic H E Daniyar Amangeldiev, Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, H E Kairat Umarov, Minister of Trade, Investment, and Industry of the Republic of Kenya H E Moses Kiarie Kuria, Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment of the Republic of Cuba H E Rodrigo Malmierca, and Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic
of Tajikistan H E Zavqi Zavqizoda.

The meetings discussed ways to strengthen and develop cooperation, especially in the fields of trade, investment, and industry.

Minister of Commerce and Industry showcased the economic policies and incentives adopted by Qatar to support the private sector, in addition to the legislations and promising opportunities that are available to foreign investors and businessmen in Qatar.

Additionally, Minister of Commerce and Industry met, separately, with Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization“WIPO” H E Daren Tang, Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization“UNIDO” H E Gerd Müller, and Senior Vice President and Global Innovation Officer for Cisco Systems Guy Diedrich.

During the meetings, Minister of Commerce and Industry expressed Qatar's recognition for the support provided by“WIPO” in developing the policies and strategies related to intellectual property, especially the National Strategy for Intellectual Property, and how to benefit from the MOUs signed so far.

Minister of Commerce and Industry also emphasized the role played by“UNIDO” in facilitating industrial development in developing countries and stressed Qatar's keenness to support the organization in facing global challenges.
