SBU Operative Charged With Justifying Russian Aggression


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Law enforcers have pressed charges against an employee of the Security Service unit in Ukraine's Volyn region for justifying Russia's war of aggression.

This was announced by the prosecutor general's office , Ukrinform reports.

'Under the procedural guidance of the Volyn Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the military and defense sphere of the Western region, an employee of the regional SBU department was charged with justification, recognition as lawful, and denial of Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine (Article 436-2 Part 3 of the Criminal Code),' the statement reads.

According to the probe, the suspect approved of the occupation of Crimea, branded the war unleashed by Russia as an 'internal civil conflict', and the crimes committed by the Russian forces in the town of Bucha, Kyiv region - as a 'staged act.'

The SBU added that the woman also reacted negatively to the liberation of Ukrainian territories, including Snake Island, from Russian invaders.

The court is yet to rule whether the suspect shall be remanded in custody pending pre-trial inquiry.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, as part of an internal purge, law enforcers charged another SBU operative, a lieutenant colonel based in Rivne region, with justifying Russian aggression.
