(MENAFN) Andrew Tate, a controversial influencer and former professional kickboxer, has had his appeal against a third 30-day detention denied by a Romanian court. He is being held on suspicion of organized crime and human trafficking. Tate, who is known for his misogynistic views and has a large following of 5.2 million on Twitter, arrived at the Bucharest Court of Appeal handcuffed to his brother Tristan, who is also being held in the same case.
The Romanian anti-organized crime agency, DIICOT, spokesperson Ramona Bolla confirmed that prosecutors had won an appeal against a court's decision to place two women held in the case under house arrest instead of full detention. None of the four individuals involved in the case have yet been formally charged.
This is the third time that the brothers have appealed against decisions to extend their detention while investigations continue, and all four individuals will remain in jail until at least March 29th. The case has garnered significant attention due to Andrew Tate's notoriety and the serious allegations against him, which include human trafficking.
While the outcome of the investigation and potential trial remains to be seen, this case highlights the issue of influencer culture and its potential impact on society. It also underscores the importance of holding individuals accountable for their actions, regardless of their social media following or perceived influence.
