Qatar University, Sultan Qaboos University Hold First International Conference For Scientific Research Management

Doha: Qatar University (QU), in cooperation with Sultan Qaboos University, and the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation in the Sultanate of Oman, will hold the first international conference for scientific research management, from February 26 to 27, with the participation of international experts from prestigious international universities and research centers.

The conference, which is hosted by Sultan Qaboos University, seeks to direct scientific research towards finding solutions to society's problems, benefiting from research results, in addition to expanding scientific research funding programs, and spreading research culture among industrial institutions.

It also aims to exchange best practices in scientific research management regionally and internationally, identify challenges and solutions to issues facing this, and identify international practices to measure the quality of scientific research and its impact on society.

During the two days of the conference, the participants will study the strategies of scientific research management and their efficiency in terms of centralization and decentralization.

In a statement, the Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies in QU, Dr. Mariam Ali Al-Maadeed said that the conference reflects the commitment of Qatar University and Sultan Qaboos University to employ the outputs of scientific research in developing society and promoting research and innovation in implementation of economic and social development programs in the region in particular and the Arab world in general, as they are both academic institutions known for the quality of their knowledge, scientific and research production at the regional and international levels.

She explained that one of the most important pillars of this cooperation between the two universities is conferences and joint events, adding that by holding conferences such as the International Conference on Scientific Research Management, the two universities continue their steady growth in the fields of higher education and scientific research, and adopt the best international standards towards excellence, as well as the harmony of partnerships between the two institutions in line with the needs of the local community and industry; This directly contributes to the social and economic development of the region.

Dr. Al-Maadeed stated that strengthening cooperation between the two universities is an essential matter that contributes to advancing the continuation of the strategic partnership between them, achieving the university's mission and goals, and building its research capabilities.

She indicated that a joint committee of the two universities was formed to support research and innovative projects, and to facilitate scientific and cultural exchange in strategic fields, with the aim of supporting national and regional social and economic transformations.

She expressed confidence that this cooperation will have a significant impact on encouraging research, innovation and creativity in the region, and will provide more opportunities for cooperation at the regional and international levels, in addition to its contribution to ensuring intellectual growth between societies and countries.

She noted that Qatar University believes in the importance of regional and international partnerships. She said that Sultan Qaboos University is an example of a successful regional partner since 2018, as the two universities have cooperated in financing 20 research projects through the International Research Collaboration Co-Fund (IRCC).

Dr. Al-Maadeed considered the conference an important opportunity to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two universities, in a way that enhances innovation, builds relationships between researchers and promotes sustainable partnerships, and provides the two institutions with a platform that reflects their vision and mission and enhances their role in building a knowledge-based economy in the two countries.
