Gunshot at US base housing president's aircraft

(MENAFN) Joint Base Andrews (JBA), a military installation in Maryland that houses a fleet of United States civilian government aircraft, including Air Force One, has been the scene of an incident involving an intruder.

According to a tweet from the JBA, an unnamed guy "gained unauthorized access" to the base's housing section on Monday morning. Then an occupant of the building fired a gun. The statement said that security personnel responded on the site and apprehended the intruder, adding that no injuries or property damage were recorded.

No other information on the event has been provided by officials. When questioned by American Publication Stars and Stripes, base spokesperson Maj. Lauren Hill highlighted worries over residents' privacy.

In a related instance, a 17-year-old male was detained while trespassing inside the JBA last March and discovered to be in possession of a handgun. Vice President Kamala Harris was preparing to board Marine Two to leave the facility when the event took place, in which another individual managed to elude the law.
