Egypt to restore calm between Palestine, Israel

(MENAFN) Egypt announced Sunday that it is trying to restore calm between Palestine and Israel after a spike in violence in the region.

The declaration came when Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi held meetings in Cairo with Romanian Premier Nicolae Ciuca.

During the summit, Egypt's efforts to ensure peace between Palestine and Israel were deliberated, but no information were revealed.

"The meeting also focused on a number of regional issues, particularly the Palestinian cause and Egypt’s efforts to achieve calm between the Palestinians and Israelis," the Egyptian Presidency stated.

"There was an agreement on the importance of exerting intensive efforts to reach a just and comprehensive solution, in line with the resolutions of international legitimacy."

Both sides also talked over developments on the Russia-Ukraine conflict with its political, economic and humanitarian penalties for the world.

Sisi and Ciuca also discussed energy collaboration amid the Russia-Ukraine crisis, which has created some international challenges.
