Organization Of Islamic Cooperation Holds Meeting For 49Th Foreign Ministers Session

The statement said that the Preparatory Meeting for the 49th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation started in Jeddah on Sunday.

The statement also added that the 49th session would be held on March 16-17, 2023, in Nouakchott, Mauritania.

In his opening speech, the OIC Secretary-General, Mr Hissein Brahim Taha, talked about the Palestinian cause as the core central issue for the organization, Afghanistan and Jammu and Kashmir situation.

He noted that the Afghanistan situation had remained the main focus of the extraordinary Meeting of the organization.

“The same applies to the situation in Afghanistan, which was the focus of the extraordinary Meeting of the Executive Committee that adopted several recommendations.

On the other hand, he also stressed that OIC continues its engagement with the Kabul administration to arrange a second visit for a delegation of scholars.

OIC“Continues engagement with the de facto authorities in Kabul through the Special Envoy, Ambassador Tarig Ali Bakheet, and arranging a second visit for a delegation of scholars.”

The OIC criticized the recent ban on Afghan female work and education by the Taliban-run administration and called them to reconsider their decision, saying it was in“violation of the purposes of Islamic law and the methodology of the Messenger of Allah.

In addition, OIC's 57 member states called on Islamic Emirate to respect human rights, including the rights of women and children.
