Arabian Peninsula Show Finals Today

Doha: The finals of the Arabian Peninsula show within the 3rd edition of Katara International Arabian Horse Festival (KIAHF-2023), which is being held under the generous patronage of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, will be held today.

KIAHF 2023 carries a total prize-money of QR17,083,500 and has the participation of 18 countries. Organised by the Cultural Village Foundation - Katara in cooperation with Qatar Equestrian Federation (QEF) and Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club (QREC), the KIAHF 2023 continues until February 11 at Katara Corniche.

A winner is being awarded during the Arabian Peninsula Arabian Horse Championship qualifiers, as part of the 3rd Katara International Arabian Horse Festival (KIAHF-2023), at Katara beach yesterday.

The Day 3 competitions among horses in the qualifying rounds were strong. Doha Stud's mares Safiya Al Rayyan and Zawaher Fila claimed the first places in the Mares 4-6 years and Mares 7-10 years old categories respectively. Maisa Al Nasser of Al Nasser Stud was declared as best in the Mares 11+ years old category. D Omnia of Dubai Arabian Horse Stud was a close second. Mesfer Mohamed Al Hajri-owned Deema Al Nasser finished third.

In a statement, Secretary-General of the Qatar Equestrian Federation and Modern Pentathlon H E Sheikh Ahmed bin Noah Al Thani praised the large participation of horse owners from within and outside Qatar during the qualifying which saw strong competition. He noted that KIAHF has become one of the largest festivals in the region, and carries a high reputation.

He added that the success achieved by the festival in the past two versions had had a great impact on the owners' keenness to be present in this edition which has also achieved success since the very first day.

He also praised the great cooperation between the parties organising the festival, foremost of which is Katara, with the QEF and the QREC, appreciating the efforts of the Qatari cadres who oversee the organisation of the festival.

Sheikh Ahmed also appreciated the supervision of the international arbitration committee which has a long experience in the field of horse shows, saying that horses at KIAHF 2023 are judged by a team of international judges of European Conference of Arabian Horse Organization (ECAHO) according to international rules and standards.
