Amman, Jan. 23 (Petra) -- Jordan took part in the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) 2023 in Madrid, the world's third-largest tourism fair, falling behind London and Berlin fairs.
The Jordanian delegation was headed by the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities and the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) Chairman, Makram Queisi, accompanied by JTB Director-General Abdul Razzaq Arabiyyat, the head of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA), and the environment and tourism commissioner at the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), in addition to the participation of 18 Jordanian tourism offices and the Royal Jordanian Airlines (RJ).
Minister Queisi held meetings with a number of his Arab and foreign counterparts in a bid to promote Jordan as a tourist destination, place it on the international tourism map and lure more Spanish tourists.
For his part, Arabiyyat highlighted the importance of Jordan's participation in such an event, noting that several agreements have been signed to 'positively impact the Kingdom.'
On the Fair's sidelines, a charter air agreement was signed, allowing the arrival of 32 flights from Spain and Portugal through Avoris Reinventing Travel, he indicated.
During the 5-day exhibition, a number of work meetings were held with senior Spanish tourism officials and journalists, he stated, adding that a promotional campaign of Jordan was launched outside the Fair.
