(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) PARIS, Jan 22 (KUNA) -- France and Germany marked the 60th anniversary of the Elysee treaty signed in 1963 post-World War II era in efforts to reconcile relations.
French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Sholz are due to meet at the Sorbonne University before the presidents of the parliaments of both nations alongside representatives and other members, as well as civil society actors and youth, stated the Elysee Palace.
The meeting will pave the way to bring France and Germany closer together in the European and international arena, 'in particular for more ambitious measures to support Ukraine, strengthen European industrial policy, implement the energy transition in our Union, advance its reforms and expand its scopes.'
It added that this meet was unique and unprecedented and aimed to enrich the Franco-Germanic relations in a wide variety of fields including security, defense, and innovative industrial projects including sectors of energy, climate, transportation, and the youth.
The meeting, originally scheduled for last year, will be held at the Elysee Palace and would to take on the challenges faced in the gas industry, nuclear power plant and the military sector fields as each sides' attempts to mend their regional and domestic issues.
On this occasion, the German and French historical relations will be celebrating their 60th anniversary of the Elysee treaty that was signed in Aachen by President Charles de Gaulle and Chancellor Konrad Adenauer post-WW II era. (end)
