Armenia, Türkiye begin direct cargo trade

(MENAFN) Amid normalization discussions between the special representatives of the two nations, Türkiye and Armenia have lifted blockades and started direct air load trade after Jan. 1, according to diplomatic sources on Friday.

In agreement with the sources, the move was revealed to the Turkish exporters' associations by the Turkish Trade Ministry.

Following years of conflicts, Ankara and Yerevan resolved to improve relations. Last January, the first round of normalization meetings took place in Moscow, and the two groups agreed to carry on talks "without any preconditions." Two more rounds of talks were then planned in February and May.

On Feb. 2, 2022, both nations continued commercial flights following a pause which lasted for 2 years.

A historic bilateral conference was also held between the foreign ministers of Türkiye and Armenia on the bargains of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum on March 12.
