CAIRO: The Qatari handball national team tied with Egypt 30/30 in the second test match held today, December 22, in Cairo, as part of both sides' preparations for the 28th IHF Men's World Championship 2023 in Poland and Sweden. The championship will kick off on January 11 and runs until January 29.

The first match that brought the two teams together, ended with the victory of Egypt 21/18.

In October, Qatar played two friendlies against Tunisia, and they will play two other friendlies with Montenegro on January 3 and January 5 in Doha, before leaving for Poland on January 10 to participate in the world championship competitions.

The Qatari team was drawn in Group E, along with the teams of Germany, Serbia, and Algeria.

This will be Qatar's ninth appearance in the championship after Portugal 2003, Tunisia 2005, Germany 2007, Spain 2013, Qatar 2015, France 2017 Germany and Denmark 2019, and Egypt 2021. They claimed silver in Qatar 2015 as their best-ever result in the championship history.
