Doha: TotalEnergies Qatar hosted over 90 youth members from Sport' A Vie, a non-profit association in France for the integration and social development of young people from diverse neighborhoods to discover cultures through large international sport events.
Their visit to Qatar comes under the umbrella of 'TAMKEEN', a program by TotalEnergies Qatar which houses all of the Company's initiatives on knowledge-sharing and human development in the country.
Within their program, Sport' A Vie members were hosted at TotalEnergies Research Center Qatar (TRC-Q) located at Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP), where they discovered the Company's state-of- the-art facilities and met with the research team to learn more about their innovation and sustainable development programs. TotalEnergies Qatar also invited Texas A&M University in Qatar to display their road show, which demonstrates how science and engineering principles can be seen in real life. Benjamin Cieslinski, STEM Laboratory Manager at Texas A&M University in Qatar, and Tala Katbeh, Program Coordinator explained STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) concepts to the students to show that science and engineering can be fun, exciting, and creative.
The young travelers also had a tour of the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) and Qatar National Library among other culturally significant sites. They visited the Al Thakira coastline where they contributed to TotalEnergies Qatar's mangrove preservation campaign by planting 600 baby mangroves and learning about the effects of climate change, and what each person can do to reduce the carbon footprint. They finally experienced FIFA World.
The students engaged in a gathering with TotalEnergies EP Qatar Managing Director and Country Chair, Matthieu Bouyer who presented to them a brief history of Qatar's energy journey, and the Company's activities in Qatar. This was followed by enthusiastic discussions and questions from the audience about the energy transformation on which the world is embarked in.
Following the visit, Matthieu Bouyer, Managing Director of TotalEnergies EP Qatar and Country Chair said“We launched TAMKEEN to support local and international young talents, and it arches on our efforts to promote human development for all ages and backgrounds.
