Russia accuses US of creating ‘synthetic coronavirus pathogen’
(MENAFN) Russia on Saturday made assumptions that the US grew a “synthetic coronavirus pathogen based on the omicron strain and the original 'Wuhan' variety.”
“The modified virus acquired by the Americans killed 80 percent of infected model animals, causing abnormal neurological signs and significant lung damage. Antibody testing revealed an 11-fold decline in their capacity to neutralize the new virus, as well as the ineffectiveness of current vaccinations,” Igor Kirillov, Chief of biological as well as chemical defense troops, stated in a news meeting.
Kirillov mentioned that the new virus was grown by Boston University.
He also mentioned that the US carries on its military biological actions in third nations, and favors showing experiments abroad due to the high danger of accidents.
Russia, he asserted, it is going to request the establishment of an impactful mechanism for monitoring these kind of actions at the approaching gathering of the Biological Weapons Convention.
In a separate announcement, the ministry also noted that Moscow and Kyiv hosted an additional stage of conflict prisoners trade and as an outcome, nine Russian soldiers came back from captivity.
