Aras Free Zone ships commodities valued at USD235M in H1


(MENAFN) Commodities worth at USD235 million were shipped from Aras Free Trade-Industrial Zone (AFZ) in Iran’s northwestern district of East Azarbaijan throughout the first six months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-September 22), the head director of Aras Free Trade-Industrial Zone Organization declared.

Majid Kiani stated that the shipments from Aras Free Zone involve four areas: definite export, export of domestic goods, re-export, as well as export to the mainland.

The shipments of local goods from the zone in the first 6 months of the current year was 30 million dollars, which has increased by three percent in comparison with the same span of time in the prior year. Moreover, the re-export indicates a surge of 11 percent in comparison with the last year, he also mentioned.

In mid-August, the prior secretary of Iran's Free Zones High Council noted that the exchange balance of the nation’s free trade zones has reached USD35 million positive for the initial time in 3 decades.
