(MENAFN) Brazilian experts blocked bank accounts Thursday of people and firms supposedly causing "anti-democratic acts" after Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva's conquest in a high-level runoff.
Federal Supreme Court (STF) judge Alexandre de Moraes ordered the decision against more than 43 people and companies related to recent demonstrations.
"It is necessary, appropriate and urgent to block the bank accounts of those investigated, given the possibility of using resources to finance illicit and undemocratic acts, in order to stop the injury or threat to law," on the words of De Moraes.
He stated there have been "repeated abuse of the right to assemble."
Experts are against those who they stated are causing undemocratic acts -- ranging from unlawful roadblocks and anti-democratic protests among calls by protestors for army interference.
De Moraes added "several antidemocratic acts" broke out following dissatisfied truck drivers "began to block traffic on several highways of the country."
