S. Africa, Türkiye organize trade meeting in Johannesburg

(MENAFN) Turkish and South African companies met Friday in Johannesburg to discover investment chances.

“Our (Turkish) economy is one of the fastest growing economies in the region. In the past 19 years Türkiye’s economy has been growing at an average of 5.4 percent but in the first quarter of this year it grew to 7.4 percent,” Yasemin Esenlik, a representative of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye Investment Office, informed Anadolu Agency after the conference.

She went to South Africa with two other colleagues to support investment chances for Türkiye at the South Africa-Türkiye Investment and Trade Day event planned by the Turkish Embassy and the Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

She added Türkiye is a great investment destination thanks to its strategic location between Asia and Europe.

“Türkiye attracted USD240 billion foreign direct investment (FDI) in the last 19 years and as of 2021, we attracted USD14.1 billion. We are close to our pre-pandemic numbers of FDI,” Esenlik continued.
