Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan is in Iran after talks with Putin, Aliyev

(MENAFN) Following a trilateral meeting with Russian and Azerbaijani leaders on fighting in the Caucasus area, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attended high-level discussions in Tehran.

Pashinyan was officially welcomed by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on Tuesday morning, and the two met in Tehran's Saadabad Palace.

Following the meeting, the Iranian president stated that Tehran is "sensitive" to the Caucasus area since it is a part of Iranian history, civilization, and culture, and security and peace in the region are essential to Iran.

“Our negotiations with Mr Pashinyan led to the conclusion that resolving the issues of the region must occur at the hands of the officials and authorities of the region, and any interference by foreigners will only create problems rather than solve them,” Raisi stated.

Pashinyan stated that he agrees with Raisi on the area's capacity to establish long-term peace and stability, and that Armenia's talks with Azerbaijan and Turkey on the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh should be properly disclosed to Iranian authorities.
