Pakistan detains Iranian residents heading to UAE on fake IDs

(MENAFN) Two Iranian residents were detained at Karachi airport with fake Pakistani travel passports after they attempted to board a flight to the UAE, Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency informed Arab News on Saturday.

The suspects, Amir Ali and Abdul Samad, were heading to Sharjah from the southern Pakistani megapolis.

They were stopped at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport on Friday.

“Two Iranian nationals using fake Pakistani travel documents have been arrested from Karachi airport,” a FIA spokesperson made a statement.

“Both have been shifted to the Anti-Human Traffic Circle in Karachi.”

The reports used by the suspects, witnessed by Arab News, read that the two had single-entry tourist visas to the UAE in their fake Pakistani IDs.

In September 2021, the FIA detained 10 Iranians in Karachi, in what the agency stated was a “comprehensive crackdown” in many parts of the southern port city.
