Prague set to host first European Political Community gathering on Thursday


(MENAFN) The initial gathering of the European Political Community is going to begin in the Czech capital Prague on Thursday.

The Community, set up following French leader Emmanuel Macron’s offer in May, is going to meet with presidents of the 27 EU states and 17 additional European nations – Norway, the UK, Montenegro, Azerbaijan, Albania, Armenia, Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Ukraine, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Turkey, Switzerland, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Moldova, as well as Georgia.

It targets to foster political discussions and collaborate on problems of mutual interest and to reinforce the security, steadiness, in addition to prosperity of the European region, as stated in an EU announcement.

the announcement mentioned that “This platform for political coordination does not replace any existing organization, structure or process and does not aim to create new ones at this stage.”

Turkish Leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan is going to be between the leaders joining Thursday’s conference. He is going to host sideline gathering with additional presidents in presence, counting Armenian premier Nikol Pashinyan.
