Book Sheds Light On Nepali Diaspora And Life In Qatar

Doha: Prof Mohammed Ramzan Ali Miya's book Maile Dekheko Qatar (Qatar as I have seen), has been described by the head of the Nepal Embassy in Qatar as a“complete package to look into Qatar”.

Laxuman Khanal, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Nepal Embassy in Qatar, said the book published last year looks deeper into the growth of the Nepali diaspora in the Qatar, as well as the prospects of Qatar-Nepal relations in the future.

“In the chapter 'Nepal in Qatar', the writer has sketched the genealogy of growing Nepali migrant population in Qatar while also reflecting on various nuances of the development and growth of Nepali community,” Khanal said.

He went on to explain that Ali Miya had provided an overview of Qatar's history, culture, economy, and other facets of Qatari society in the chapter 'Qatar in Qatar'. He discussed Qatar's tourist attractions as well as the country's most recent development successes and advancements.

Khanal said that the 'Nepal in Qatar' which is the final chapter of the book examined Nepal-Qatar relations and potential future alliances and collaborations between the two nations and peoples.

“The book is a conscious effort of the writer, who has been living in Qatar for over a decade and has witnessed the phenomenal development and prosperity of Qatar and its society, to record various avenues of Qatar's progress vis-à-vis that of Nepali migrant community in Qatar,” the Deputy Chief of Mission said.

“His core message that the two countries and the two peoples can and need to further collaborate and cooperate for each other's further progress and development as well as for deeper understanding and appreciation of each other reflects the aspirations of both Nepali and Qatari peoples.”

Founder Vice-President Non Resident Nepali Association, Dr. Dev Kaji Dangol, said that this book is the best tool for new people in Qatar and also those who want to visit Qatar or those who are in Qatar. 

“I'm feeling so much privilege to have in my hand Maile Dekheko Qatar. The author has had deep studies and beautifully expressed Qatar's history, political systems, national religion and respect of all walks,” said Dangol.

He said that the book provides details about the Nepali community in Qatar, Nepali social organisations in the country and its leaders/leadership.

Maile Dekheko Qatar is the 37th book of Prof Mohammed Ramzan Ali Miya, a Doha-based Nepali human rights activist and social worker and coordinator of Nepalese community. He has been living in Qatar for over a one and a half decades.
