QBA Seeks Investment Opportunities In Egypt's Healthcare Sector

Doha: The Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA) organised a business lunch in honour of the Egyptian Minister of health and Population H E Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar. The meeting discussed investment opportunities in the Egyptian health sector, including the construction of advanced health facilities with international standards, in addition to developing and raising the efficiency of medical units, centres, hospitals affiliated with the ministry, and university hospitals.

The meeting was attended by QBA's Chairman sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, and members including Salah Al Jaidah, Khaled Al Mannai, Ramez Al Khayyat, Maqbool Khalfan, Ihsan Al Khiyami, Yousef Al Mahmoud, also Sheikh Jassim bin Faisal Al Thani and Sheikh Khaled bin Faisal Al Thani, QBA board members Al Faisal holding in addition to Sarah Abdullah, QBA Deputy GM.

The meeting was also attended by a group of investment pioneers in the Qatari private health sector, which is witnessing remarkable growth through the construction and operation of a number of modern hospitals with international standards.

At the beginning of the meeting, Sheikh Faisal welcomed the Minister and his accompanying delegation, stressing out the importance of strengthening cooperation between Qatar and Egypt in various economic fields and benefiting from the great opportunities and potentials of the two countries, highlighting the important role the private sectors of both countries in developing the bilateral relations.

Minister Abdel Ghaffar went on to confirm that the Egyptian government places at the top of its priorities the support of the health sector to enhance the medical treatment in Egypt, explaining that Egypt possesses all the factors and capabilities that place it among the leading countries in this field.

The Minister also spoke about the achievements of the health sector and Egypt's vision to achieve the sustainable development goals 2030, as well as the presidential health initiatives under the slogan“100 million health”, explaining that the presidential initiatives represent a model that can be applied as a pioneering experience in the health sectors in other countries.

During the meeting, QBA Chairman spoke about the development in the Qatari health sector and the government's distinguished interest in enhancing this sector within the country's national vision.

Minister Abdel Ghaffar added that the healthcare industry provides promising investment opportunities in the Egyptian market. He also explained the Egyptian government's vision for investors, who will be provided with a detailed map that represents the health development needs in each governorate, based on the population, the disease burden, health service providers, and the incentives provided by Investment Law No. 72 of 2017 for investors.

The Minister also stressed on the importance of cooperation between both countries and called on the Qatari side to visit Egyptian health facilities and study investment opportunities on ground.

Sheikh Faisal welcomed the invitation to visit Egypt, and the different governorates, cities and the industrial complexes with potential investment opportunities. He also praised the successes achieved by the Egyptian government, which were reflected in the improvement of the health system, expressing his welcome to the cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, Minister Abdel Ghaffar gave an overview of the comprehensive health insurance project, Egypt's vision for the future of health care, and the developments that the Egyptian market would witness during the coming period.

He also talked about emerging companies in the field of health care, presenting the framework and opportunities for medical insurance, as well as addressing attractive investment opportunities in several areas, including the pharmaceutical and medical industry, building hospitals and health facilities, and producing medical equipment and supplies.
