Mukawir Cultural Event To Celebrate Area's History On October 8
AMMAN — A cultural event will kick off in Madaba's Mukawir village on October 8, celebrating the site's religious significance.
The celebration, organised by the Jordan Tourism Board, will be attended by Tourism Minister Nayef Al Fayez, Al Rai Arabic daily reported on Saturday, quoting spokesperson and media coordinator of the event Rula Samain.
The event will include a theatrical performance, written and composed by Father Joseph Soueid, Patriarchal Vicar of the Maronite Church in Jordan, with the participation of a Lebanese band comprising 30 artists.
The play narrates the history of the area, in particular the Mukawir Castle, where John the Baptist was killed.
