Kremlin: Demand for Russian gas is increasing outside of EU

(MENAFN) According to Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov, supplies would be diverted to quickly expanding countries throughout the world to make up for the European Union's declining demand for Russian natural gas.

He declared that “Europe is not the only consumer of natural gas, nor is it the only continent that needs natural gas to sustain rapid growth.”

Peskov also mentioned that “there are regions that are developing much faster and have much more ambitious development programs. There, the demand for gas will be able to compensate for the lack of demand in the European direction.”

Due to disruptions in Russian gas supply, the energy crisis in Europe worsened in the first few days of July. Due to technical difficulties with the upkeep of the turbines for the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline, the Russian energy giant Gazprom was obliged to decrease gas supply. The issues emerged as a result of the Western penalties imposed on Russia, which hampered the delivery of spare parts and adequate equipment maintenance.
