British Embassy In Qatar Announces Series Of Events To Commemorate Queen's Passage

Doha: To mark the accession of His Majesty King Charles III, the Union Flag was raised at the British Embassy on Saturday and it will be returned to half-mast on Sunday, where it will remain until the day after the State Funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the British Ambassador to Qatar, HE Jon Wilks, has said.

In a series of tweets on Saturday, the British envoy said that a Service of Commemoration will be held on Thursday, September 15, at 7pm at the Anglican Church of the Epiphany at the Religious Complex, and a condolence book will also be available then.

'Attendance at the service will require pre-registration with the British Embassy. A further announcement with details of how to register will be issued soon,' Ambassador Wilks noted.

According to him, condolence books will also be open to all at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Fateh Al Khair room, from Sunday, September 11 to Thursday, September 15, from 10am to 4pm, and on Saturday, September 17 and Sunday, September 18, at the same time.

'Flowers may also be left at the Ritz-Carlton, and a Book of Condolence is also available at the British ambassador added.

Queen Elizabeth II passed away on Thursday, ending the longest reign in British history.

The palace announced she died at Balmoral Castle, her summer residence in Scotland, where members of the royal family had rushed to her side after her health took a turn for the worse.
