Russian Strikes Kill Four, Injures Forty in Ukraine

(MENAFN) At least four people were killed and 40 more wounded in a prolonged Russian drone and missile assault on Ukraine that spanned more than 12 hours, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed on Sunday.

The onslaught, which included nearly 500 combat drones and over 40 missiles—among them Kinzhal hypersonic missiles—targeted several key areas, Zelensky said in a statement.

The primary targets of the attack were Kiev and its outskirts, the southern Zaporizhzhia region, and the western Khmelnytsky region. Civilian infrastructure suffered extensive damage across the country, with key facilities such as a bread production enterprise, an automotive rubber factory, and residential buildings all being hit, Zelensky added.

Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kiev City Military Administration, reported that three adults and a 12-year-old girl were killed in the capital. Approximately 10 people were also injured. Over 15 locations in Kiev were damaged, including a cardiological institute, a kindergarten, and multiple residential buildings.

In response, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that its air defense systems successfully intercepted and destroyed 53 Ukrainian drones in various regions during the night and into Sunday morning.

Additionally, the Russian Ministry reported that its forces shot down six guided aerial bombs, six projectiles fired from U.S.-made HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems, and one Czech-made Vampire rocket on Saturday.
