Nizamani Appointed As New Ambassador Of Pakistan To Afghanistan

As Mansoor Ahmad Khan's mission in Afghanistan came to an end, Pakistan appointed Ubaidur Rehman Nizamani as the new ambassador to Afghanistan, Pakistani media reported citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan.

Currently holding the position of Director General Europe at Pakistan's Foreign Ministry, Nizmani has had Foreign Service positions for more than 20 years.

He also served as Director General South Asia and South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) in the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Nizamani will succeed Ambassador Mansoor Ahmed Khan, whose tenure in Foreign Service would end on August 30, 2022.

The outgoing ambassador, Mansoor Ahmad Khan, will retire from the service at the end of this month after reaching superannuation.

Pakistan's new ambassador-designate to Afghanistan, Nizamani, has also served as Deputy Chief of Mission and the Charge d'Affaires of Pakistan Mission in the US.

Nizamani's appointment as the ambassador of Pakistan to Afghanistan is the first ambassadorial posting to Afghanistan.

Nizamani is also reported to have a wealth of knowledge on both bilateral and multilateral diplomacy.
