HM Shah Meets ITBP Men Injured In Kashmir At AIIMS

New Delhi- Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday visited the AIIMS trauma centre in Delhi and took stock of the medical care being provided to three ITBP personnel injured in a road accident while coming back after completing Amarnath Yatra duty in Jammu and Kashmir.

The critically injured Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) force personnel — constables Balwant Singh, Tsewang Dorje and Bablu Kumar — were brought to the capital from Srinagar on Friday onboard an air ambulance for specialised treatment at the premier health facility.

“The Hon'ble home minister was briefed by the doctors about the health condition of the jawans and future medical procedures being followed. Senior officials of ITBP also briefed him about the health condition of the injured.

“He wished the injured personnel speedy recovery,” a senior ITBP officer said.

Pictures showed Shah standing beside the beds of the jawans and interacting with doctors and senior officers of the paramilitary force.

Seven ITBP personnel were killed while 32 others, including two Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel, were injured when their bus fell into a gorge near Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on August 16.

They were returning to their base after completing the Amarnath Yatra duty.

The border force, primarily tasked to guard the 3,488 km stretch of the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China, was part of the comprehensive security deployment for the annual 43-day-long Amarnath Yatra that ended on August 11.

110 Officers For Yatra Services

Meanwhile Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday felicitated officers of Civil Administration, police, Army, CAPFs, NDRF, SDRF, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board for exemplary arrangements and smooth conduct of this year's Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, at the Raj Bhavan.

On the occasion, an official spokesperson said, the LG also expressed gratitude towards the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for all the support and guidance, leading to successful Yatra.

'Thankful to the people, civil society, religious & political leaders, medical staff, ponywallahs, pithuwalas, sanitation workers for their support, total dedication to service of pilgrims and ensuring best possible arrangements for their comfort and well being,” Sinha said.

Underscoring that Shri Amarnath ji's Yatra is a symbol of the ancient Sanatan tradition of India and one of biggest spiritual festivals for J&K, the LG, as per the spokesperson said that 1 crore 30 lakh citizens of Jammu and Kashmir have wholeheartedly participated in the Yatra and have set a new benchmarks of the rich cultural tradition of the UT.

Lauding the officials for their hard work, the LG, he said, observed that the successful event is the result of team spirit, sacrifice and service by all the officers.

According to the spokesperson, the LG handed over mementos to around 110 Officers for Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2022 in recognition of their selfless service.

Sinha, he said, also stated that this successful Yatra has set many new records. Even after being the most weather affected Yatra, around 3.65 lakh pilgrims have successfully performed darshan at the Holy cave owing to efficient planning, immaculate implementation and seamless coordination between all the stakeholders.

“Every person and every pilgrim associated with Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra is now the brand ambassador of Jammu and Kashmir and this amalgamation of humanity and spirituality is being discussed in every corner of the country,” the LG said.

Sinha, according to the spokesperson, also appreciated the LG Fellows, PRIs for their immense contribution in this year's Yatra.

“The management of cleanliness, water and security has also been commendable throughout the pilgrimage period. The feedbacks we have received from pilgrims are very encouraging,” the LG added.
