Uzbekistan, Georgia Eye Expanded Agricultural Trade
The issue was discussed during a videoconference meeting between Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, Kakhramon Yuldashev, and representatives of leading agricultural companies from Georgia.
The sides explored opportunities to develop joint projects in fruit and vegetable processing, introduce modern technologies, and expand the production of goods with higher added value.
Particular attention was also paid to the implementation of investment projects in Uzbekistan, including the establishment of high-tech greenhouse complexes, development of animal feed production, and wider adoption of IT solutions and financing mechanisms in the agro-industrial sector.
In addition, the parties discussed increasing the volume of agricultural trade, improving marketing and distribution channels, and building more sustainable supply chains.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation and ensure the consistent implementation of joint initiatives.
Recent developments in 2025 show a strengthening agricultural partnership between Uzbekistan and Georgia, marked by the formulation of a joint action plan for agricultural cooperation focusing on key areas such as viticulture, winemaking, olive and hazelnut cultivation, sericulture, and agricultural education.
This includes establishing joint master's programs in viticulture and agriculture. Investment in agro-processing is notable, particularly with plans for olive plantation projects in Uzbekistan. A Free Trade Agreement signed in 1995 also facilitates trade in agricultural products, including food commodities like legumes, fruits, and tobacco.
