Griegz's early childhood takes place in a small town in South Australia. He initially got into music by showing affinities towards drumming, and from an early age, he participated in several local bands.
At just 17 years of age, Griegz accepted a position as a full-time camera operator and editor at an Australian TV station. He was still attending school at this time and managed to juggle his new profession with schooling, while still achieving good grades.
As a diligent, hard-working individual, Griegz was never the one to shy away from his responsibilities, but his passions lay elsewhere. After spending several years as a camera operator and editor, he never abandoned his love for music.
Griegz reemerged onto the Australian music scene as a DJ, landing gigs at local nightclubs, then progressing into touring around Australia. While performing at clubs and building an impressive sound and lighting rig, Griegz saw an opportunity to start a business, which he eventually acted upon. He founded a business and provided venues with quality sound and lighting equipment. Griegz imparts that one of the most positive side-effects of this line of work was the opportunity to work with touring DJs and musicians.
Griegz picked up music production in 2018 and embraced it as an exciting new hobby during his spare time. He soon realized that making the music was only a small percentage of the skills needed to be successful. This is where some of the skills he had already learned while working for the media came in handy.
Sadly, a few years later the Covid-19 pandemic had closed all venues, which meant that Griegz had nowhere to DJ, and no one to hire his equipment. He was out of work, but he had ample time to refine his craft.
The pandemic had a severe impact on Griegz, both financially and mentally. The small town he resided in at the time appeared even smaller with all entertainment venues closed and people staying at home. He eventually moved interstate, which opened numerous doors of opportunity for him. As Griegz imparts, this move was both necessary and refreshing:
“The best decision I ever made was to step outside of my comfort zone and make the move interstate. As much as small towns are nice, they can become toxic with many people feeling threatened by another's success,” said Griegz.
In November of 2021, Griegz made another interstate move and finally settled in Canberra, where he quickly felt at home. His inspiration was sparked to a whole new level, which can be seen and heard in his recent popular release“Only a Taste”, a collaboration with American singer/songwriter Bobby John.
Griegz amassed over 100,000 monthly listeners on Spotify by June, and his army of followers is growing daily. Griegz revealed that August 5 will be the release date of his upcoming single“Set Me Free”. The song is a collaboration between artists from four different continents characterized by rap-rock sensibilities.
