Qatar Outclass Djibouti For 3Rd Win At Chess Olympiad

Doha: Qatar registered a commanding victory at the 44th FIDE Chess Olympiad, beating Djibouti 4-0 in Chennai, India yesterday.
Youssef Muhammad Al Mutawa, Hussein Aziz, Ghanem Al Sulaiti, and Rayan Irfan represented Qatar in win over Djibouti, ranked 177th in the world rankings.
It was Qatar's third victory in the event after wins over Papua New Guinea and Bolivia. Al Annabi also suffered three defeats in the tournament going down against Denmark, Finland and Iraq. Qatar will now meet South Korea, ranked 87th in the world, in an important clash.
Speaking after match against Djibouti, Al Mutawa said Qatar players are gaining a valuable experience with their participation in the competition.
“Qatar are playing against top-ranked teams which is a great learning experience for them. We are hopeful of earning good results in our remaining matches,” he said.
